Production Blog: It all ends with a title sequence

It all ends with a title sequence  The last and most meticulous part of editing is here to come. Yes, you heard it first the editing of the credits itself. No, this task was not hard because there were a lot of credits. Nor was it the fact that we had to do them all separate. It was mainly because this is my first time having a MacBook ever. I'm still learning the process and such. Especially on the editing front. I've practice one other time suing it right when I got it. Yet never to something to this extent. Usually, I use Clipchamp's, yet the main reason I got this computer was for the software on it. Like Garageband, Imove, and much more. While this came and messed me up too. I had no idea how to edit these titles and was running short on time. Therefore I had to rush and try to learn at the same time. Now looking at it now I probably should have done a google search. Yet at the moment I just played with it. I finally figure it out. Then it was one problem after the ne...

Production Blog: Editing Continues...

Image
Editing Continues... We finished filming everything FINALLY. The most time-consuming things I had to edit were some audio tracks and the credits which I will get into the next blog. First off the ill start on the audio clips. The main ones I will be speaking about in the editing of the audio itself will be the "911 call" and Zeke's monologue. I edited the 911 call because I wanted it to sound echoing because 911 calls aren't crystal clear. Which was what I had, I wanted somewhat of an echo. So I used a sound editing platform and I pretty much just played around with the exposed and the pitches. I had no prior experience and there really wasn't any type of intro into the tech I was using. This meaning I was pretty much on my own. So I played around with it and finally got it to something I somewhat liked. Then for Zekes thing, it sounded very monotone and plan. So I also edited that using the platform known as Garageband. I also had no experience so I did that some...

Production Blog: Last minute shoots

Last-minute shoots We started editing already. Yet of course we had to shoot some fillers. Thankfully there wasn't a lot to film. Just small things yet it was still out of the way. We filmed our actor Paola with a bloody arm and in somewhat a pool of blood. We did a track of her arm with the blood on it. The reason for this is that we needed more clips. For our monolog scene, we needed more images. We originally were just going to do some type of sub-titles. Which would be placed on a black screen. Yet that seemed boring and kind of bland in my opinion. Just a black screen with white subtitles and a voice... Therefore we used the scene to pretty much add something more to it. We used a mixture of black-cut scenes of that blood and gore. Which essentially transcended this into more of a psychological thriller. An ominous black screen just a whole lot of nothingness. Then transitions into a scary image or a flashback of a good relationship. It shows and exaggerates the horror and re...

Production Blog: Start of editing

Image
Start of editing Now we pretty much filmed all the clips. This means it's time for editing it all! Overall there's a lot of clips. Yet we pretty much narrowed it down to which takes we wanted to keep and leave. Pretty much meaning that I have all the clips I need to edit. I've started editing a little before this. I edited all the good scenes together. I added little fillers in between so I could have some type of estimate. Now I finally had all of the clips. So I edited them all together. Yet that's not really hard. The hard part is the sound. We need to edit a lot of sounds and different clips of voices For example the "911 Call" we wanted to sound muffled. Which means that I needed to download "Audacity" to edit the clip. Which was very hard with no experience. There are lots of parts that go into this. The hardest portion is probably after he swings the knife and "Kills" her. All because after this we have our monolog, then the whole c...

Production Blog: Shooting ENDS

Image
Shooting ends      We started the shooting last week. We pretty much filmed the white scenes. Which are the good and happy scenes all in the day. Yet now we started filing the night scene. Which we finished all together in one night. We decided to stay with the idea of changing the clothes. Honestly, the set looked very good yet I was still worried. I was worried about if people would get the transitions or not. I feel like interpretation could make or break this short film. For the reason of if you don't follow the movie how will you like it or get it. The last scene where Zeke is "Killing" actor Paola D. which played his girlfriend was tricky. For these reasons, he was holding a real knife for this swing. Meaning that while he was at a safe distance it was still dangerous. Also for filming it was hard too. I needed to capture this moment. While staying out of the way for safety. Yet to capture this without showing Paola too much was hard. The overall shooting was a litt...
