Short film (Simple Robbery)
AWARD WINNING Thriller Short Film - A Simple Robbery (2020)
Becky and Stacey are two friends who enjoy taking money from rich men. But tragedy strikes when a robbery didn't go as planned. Was hooked right from the opening credits! The American narration and comic undertone were clever, giving this another layer and made me feel ever so slightly at ease in the suspense moments! Professional acting and interesting characters, which are so hard to develop in such a short space of time. I think the concept was super solid and well-executed. One thing of note is that this film would have been a lot stronger without the voiceover. Make the audience think about what is happening, don't feed them things. The voiceover made it a little childish and made this feel like a student film. Other than that, this was great. !For a short film, this one had a very unique style so many moments the suspense was unbearable and then something totally unexpected happens. Then towards the end, she breaks the 3rd dimension and talks to the narrator. I feel it was a great film, yet less of a thriller per se. There are a lot of different things and elements through like the different angles. The little backstory in the biggin gives us a slight insight into the situation. While also providing us with the knowledge that they have done this before too. The acting was very good and it had an interesting and new take on the plot. Overall there was great acting, quality, and throughput ness. I would give it a 7 overall the narrator was a little awkward at points yet also settling.
