Production Blog: Start of shooting

Image
Production Sunday we final got to film. My partner Paola had work so we had to film later. Therefore we need to make sure we keep that type of time when filming to match other clips. We wanted a darker themed so we shot at night. Yet we might have to modify this schedule because we will have to film in the day due to school and availability because both Zeke and paola have jobs. We filmed the opening scene where we see Zeke chopping food chicken instead of meat. Which was honestly not aesthetically pleasing at all. Then again you must work with what you have. We are planning on filming Tuesday the 30th. We plan on getting all our shots. So I can go in and edit it. Then after see what I need. We are thinking about probably having three different shoots maybe four if need. We are doing so many because after editing there's always those few choppy clips. Yet I'm mainly worried about blanks within the somewhat small storyline portrayed. I'm more of taking a step back and lettin...

Final Task: Production

Planning for Final Task Filming Paola and I have concentrated on the preparation part so far. We're working to get all of the configurations including schedules in order. We're scrambling to find out what costumes we'll be wearing. For eg, we're attempting to achieve a vintage look. We're looking for just a dress for Paola to put on her charter to make her look quite petite. We're always debating which button-up will look best on Zeke. We're attempting to maintain a cleaner appearance. We're still on the lookout for props. For example, we used fake blood in our last scene. We're also trying to find out which knife and cleaver to use for the feeding, chopping, and killing scenes. We haven't even begun filming. We've rescheduled further shooting for just a later date due to the availability of some. But, to be honest, I'm not sure. I'd like using film right than before later. I get this feeling since I believe we can still have resh...

Final Task: Production

Production Blog We have been unable to shoot as planned last weekend. For the entire weekend, my partner Paola Dorazio was out of town. Hence why we haven't started the film. Since she is one of the key stars, that couldn't be there. In a previous blog entry, I mentioned how I felt it was necessary to focus on a costume, makeup, and general themes. I've taken a lot of decisions in regards to my film project alongside Paola. As an example, consider my costume selection. I've determined that the lead male actor should wear a white button-up during the positive scenes and a charcoal button-up during the terrible moments. I required their costumes to have a light and dark color scheme to further highlight the mood of every other sequence. The contrast between blacks and whites resembles a classic good vs. bad strategy. More of a good and evil type of vibe and mood. For both the positive moments, we just want the lead's wife to wear a bright white flowy and floral dres...

Final Task: Production

Planning for Final Task Filming  So far Paola and I have been more on the planning aspect. We are trying to straighten out all of the settings and plans. We are trying to pinpoint our exact costumes. For example, we are trying to fit somewhat of a retro look. We are picking out a dress for Paola to make her charter seen more dainty. Yet for Zeke, we are figuring out which button-up would look best. We are trying to have a cleaner look. We also are buying props. Such as fake blood for our last scene. We are also trying to pick out a knife and a cleaver for the eating scene, cutting meat scene, and killing scene. We haven't started filming yet. We have scheduled more filming later because of others available. Yet honestly, I would rather use film now rather than later. I feel like this because I think we always need to have retakes and such. Also, it's better to do work earlier than later. When it comes to editing there's a lot too. We need to figure out how we want to edit...

Production Blog: General Decision

We're up against some challenges with this one. Ezekiel Moralez, the one we've chosen to do it with, has a very busy life with work and other activities. Paola is also on a tight timetable. We couldn't start shooting on any of those days over the weekend, which was the 7th and 8th, because some of us had jobs and were distracted. Paola will be out of town for a wedding this coming weekend, the 13th and 14th. We're hoping to shoot on the 20th and 21st of this month. If it turns out to be too far away, we will have to shoot on weekdays. We're always planning on doing it at Paola's place, but Zeke's house is still a choice if anything unexpected arises. The kitchen will be the setting for the majority of our film. Both of our homes have an open kitchen, which makes filming even easier. If more issues emerge as a result of our actors' unavailability, we might need to shift the leads. We had other people in mind who we thought might do a good job in that sit...

Final Task: Filming and Editing

Image
Filming and Editing For our final task, we haven't really started Filming. We also have started any editing either. For our storyboard, we planned how we were going to film. We mainly for our filing are going to be located at my partner Paola's house. Also on the filming aspect, we have a lot of angling. We are including much more shots than ever before. We have a lot more complicated transitions. Yet to make them less choppy we need to make sure our shots fit each other. For them to better complement each other they must complement with this camera angles for example a turning pan. Since there are so many more clips is definitely go ing to affect editing. There's going to be a huge portion of time that's going to be dedicated to editing. Yet we also have to add music and dialogue. While editing we are planning on adding sound effects which are going to be challenging since there's music. We also need to make sure we keep a flow through. Hence also adding to editing...
