Final Task: StoryBoard

Image
StoryBoard      Our storyboard is very complex. It's so detailed for various reasons. To make sure we know how we are going to film. Also as we plan it out we make little tweaks and changes. by planning shows us things we must change. Also things we must add or cut. Ours is so partially mainly because of the shots. There are so many cuts and transitions through. We had transitions that we call the "upside-down". Pretty much meaning the darker sides of reality. Meaning the curule horrors or life overall. Yet to express that we must show a transition between. Yet also add filters to create the desired mood. The "upside-down" is more gloomy, scary and, unknown. Yet we need to portray this not only with acting but overall these mood definers. We also see charters' reactions. We include where the music starts, stops, and cuts. Overall this storyboard is very detailed. Pao and I are trying to plan out all the components. Not only because it's easier on us. Yet...

Final Task: Location, Health, Schedule, and More

Image
Roles:   We believe that it would be best for one of us to play the girlfriend that gets murdered in the opening film. We feel as though no one knows how we want the emotion portrayed by that character than us. Since we really liked how our last film came out like, we decided to have  Paola  play the girlfriend who gets murdered. The main character is a man so, we need a boy to play as our lead. We have a few options in mind but before we make concrete plans we want to be sure that we want them as our lead. We need a specific person to fit this role. Some who look toxic and can pull off being a murder in our film. We have narrowed it down to, Ezekiel Moralez who played the toxic boyfriend in our music video. Victor Melendez did the voice-over in Paola's Gatorade commercial. But so far it seems we might have to choose  Zeke  for our film again. Alexa  is going to shoot a lot of the scenes since Paola is in front of the camera. She'll also be the main editor ...

Final Task: Title Design

Image
For our final project of the opening scene of a movie, we had many ideas for the tile designs. We made sure that the titles going by throughout the movie, fit the plot and storyline. We want the opening scene to be suspenseful and thrilling. In order to achieve that theme, the title designs play a huge part in that. The font we decided to use is  Anton . We feel as though this font adds to the intensity of our opening scene. It's very bold, and with our chosen color scheme we felt it was a strong combination. We've chosen red and black for the letter combination colors, with red being our full names and the topic of the title being black. This will help the slightly twisted and dark underlying theme. We're going to keep the font the same throughout the whole opening scene because we want it to look seamless. These colors also stand out against the background, but at the same time doesn't take all the attention away from what is happening in the movie. All the titles w...

Title research: (Silence of the Lambs)

Image
T itle research: (Silence of the Lambs) I watched my opening for this movie on youtube. Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eyLI4eL2c_s What titles are displayed during the opening sequence? We see an extra bold chunky font. It highlights the overall title and genre is shown. We see this boldness as somewhat unsettling. What images are prioritized in the opening sequence? We see various shots of a forest in the opening scene. As aerial shots are down. We progressively  What connotations do these images carry?    The most striking thing seen within some connotation is the intentionally bad kerning and leading in the extra-bold chunky font. From a design perspective, it's a disaster but then you realize that it's that way to set the mood perfectly. How does the film establish a feeling of the genre from the outset?   Yes, it fits the genre well. The audience is presented with such bold unsettling fonts. Yet also presented with imagery of this forest a very and myster...

Title research: (Split)

Image
T itle research: (split) I watched my opening for this movie on youtube. Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LWEzamQjh3Q What titles are displayed during the opening sequence? We see somewhat simplistic white fonts. It's minimal yet very sophisticated. What images are prioritized in the opening sequence? Throughout we see bolded white titles and flashes of the name, "Split". Overall we notice a cleaner look yet this minimal effort adds to the movement of the psychotic fast jolts of the titles. What connotations do these images carry?    There's so little yet so much. Balancing casual film with effort only art films can have that. This title sequence does that. How does the film establish a feeling of the genre from the outset?   No, and yes to an extent. The joints gave without are unsettling. Yet the titles and fonts are so simplistic. It's hard to disguise the genre. What strategies are used to ensure the film appeals to its target audience? The poster give...

Title research: (The call)

Image
T itle research: (The Call) I watched my opening for this movie on youtube. Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4yMdgNdbkbw What titles are displayed during the opening sequence? The audience sees a 911 dispatcher. Then a girl in distress as people are breaking into her house. What images are prioritized in the opening sequence?  The computer screen is shown a lot. It gives the audience a 3rdperson perspective. We get to see her and the girl in destresse. What connotations do these images carry?  They make the audience feel uneasy. These images give the connotations of fear and anxiety. Just when you feel like everything is ok it's not. How does the film establish a feeling of the genre from the outset?  It's very unsettling from its start. The sound effects create some type of anxious feeling. However, it does it quite well while as yet being fairly puzzling. All fitting the class well indeed What strategies are used to ensure the film appeals to its target audi...

Title research: (The Platform)

Image
T itle research: (The Platform) I watched my opening for this movie on youtube. Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jqbm5d5p-sI What titles are displayed during the opening sequence? We see breve credits roll. A softer type of font usage. Once again very simplistic. Yet doesn't prove a fourth of a thriller. What images are prioritized in the opening sequence?  The first where the movie is produced. Then we see various chefs cooking. As a man walks around and surverises. Starting off at a shower oace. What connotations do these images carry?   The meticulousness of preparing the food. Yet ding sounds leave the crowd unsettled. The images of the credits are so vague leaver the audience wanting more. How does the film establish a feeling of the genre from the outset?  It's very unsettling from its start. The sound effects create some type of anxious feeling. Yet proposes a soon-to-be psychological thriller. Yet it does it very well while still being somewhat myster...

Title Research: Watch the Titles Website

Image
Research (Titles Pt.) Watch the titles was very helpful. I watched various titles sequenced from lots of genres. I learned how much a title really distinguishes a lot. Not only does it say the name but the but it tells the genre. It also gives somewhat of a theme. When looking at a horror aspect I see more creepy or unsettling images. We see various usage of more demonic or creepy things. Rather than in a romcom seeing flowers and cute couples. Overall a title is a very loud vocal point within the presentation. Hence I learned how to convey these messages with a simple word.

Title Research: Art of The Title Website

Image
Research (Title Pt.1) Our genre firs more in the horror and thriller genre.  Titles are critical to a movie. There's lots of reason for this. Titles are the first thing the audience sees. It draws people into your movie. It also helps your movie stand out. All titles are usually different or very distant. Whether it is bolded titles. Colored bright red or crazy font. Yet such a small detail could really matter. It also somewhat tells a story to you're audience. A title does more than say the name of it. They also somewhat tell you the genre or somewhat present a theme to the viewer. If it's a horror movie you will most likely see a grimmer title. Rather than a Romantic film with a bright pink title. For our film, we are looking through options. When watching horror movies you can most likely from the title. As seen below, they are very predominant titles. That's what I and Pao are trying to achieve. somewhere in horror and thriller. We want somewhat of a predominant tit...

Genre Research: Arrival

Image
I watched this movie about two years ago and fell in love. The plot, the actors, and the message were beautiful.  Very few films linger in my mind the way Arrival did. But even after several viewings, on each watch, Arrival offers a new interpretation, a fresh point of view, or a renewed perception of events. The movie questions our linear concept of time, this business of starting from the beginning and stopping at the end. But they made us ask, what if time, to suit our intent, could be bent, formed, molded? And she doesn't always have the answers in the future and always has to fill these open holes with up-to-date knowledge from the present; explanations such as the name of her husband, presenting the answer to a science question for her daughter, and how she came to receive insight from the future. In an infinite loop, the future, the past, and the present all benefit from each other. A new perspective on how we live life is offered by the message given. The aliens can ...

Genre Research: The Killing of a Sacred Deer

Image
I watched The Killing of a Sacred Deer about a year ago with my two older brothers. While sitting down and watching it we were confused almost throughout the entire movie. Each of us making stabs in the dark about the storyline and where it was going to lead. All the guests were reasonable, yet none of them prepared us for the ending. I was a bit unsure about how I felt at the end of the movie, but I did know I liked it. I love those physiological thrillers that make you feel completely in the dark. The unsettling atmosphere of the who le movie impacted the viewers considerably. When watching this movie you really have to listen to the words spoken, rather than the tone they are spoken in. One element of the genre that didn't really appeal to was the unsettling tone of the actors. Because at some points it made it difficult to understand the storyline. But on the other side, it was what I loved most about the movie. Because at the end you really see the  character's own self-...

Genre Research: Parasite

Image
I watched this movie about a month ago with my family and we all loved it so much. This movie was so incredibly complex and unpredictable. It is honestly a masterpiece. I had a high expectation before watching. It  won numerous awards, including the prestigious Oscar for The Best Film and The Best Director. I honestly believed the name of the movie was going to be more literal than figurative. I thought it was gonna be about a virus with parasites or something. Needless to say, I was pleasantly surprised . We're trailing the Kim family that doesn't have a lot of money. The son in the family decides to work for the rich Park family by accident. He's teaching English to their daughter. The rest of the family now sees money-making potential, and they have a proposal to eliminate the rest of the workers who work for the rich Park family and then take the positions on their own. The dark comedy and suspense of this thriller made the director's vision perfectly executed. I ...

General Decision blog

Image
The thrill Ride is a type of fiction, having various, regularly covering subgenres. Spine chillers are described and characterized by the temperaments they inspire, giving watchers uplifted sensations of tension, fervor, shock, expectation, and uneasiness. Thrillers are suspenseful and add a sense of mystery while horror showcases fear. We don't want to buy predominantly Beyond fear. Rather we would want our film to be much more.  With the Thriller genre, we can have the best of both worlds. We can create a psychological Thriller that essentially takes our audience's main focal point and pushes it to the Limit. There's so much more room within the Thriller genre. We both felt this was the perfect genre. We had fewer limitations and more room for creativity. Pao and I really feel it's a good fit.  We can have other aspects while also having the main point of a thriller. Our final task will be much easier due to this. We want it to be excited. The type of movie that ...

Genre Research: Thriller & Drama

Image
Thriller Common lighting in this genre is backlighting, under lighting, and lowkey lighting. This helps to create a dark and mysterious atmosphere and helps to conceal the character's identity, which adds to that suspense.  Some common camera angles are close-ups shots, which exemplify the emotions of the characters or frames an object, to be at attention. Point of view shots allow the viewers to feel emotionally engaged because they feel as though they are the character.  Tracking is a common camera movement that follows the character's action but at the same doesn't spoil the movie.  For this genre costumes usually worn by the antagonist are darker. Weapons are commonly used as props to help convey risk and danger.  The settings are normally in an intense location usually secluded.  A common form of editing in this genre is parallel editing which helps to add tension and illustrate the character's emotions.  The sounds this genre usually contains a...

Genre Research: Horror

This genre ppt project was a major determinant in the success of my later projects following. It allowed me to focus on the schemes of a specific genre. After completing this assignment, I easily understood the many factors that go into specific genres. Because I arranged my genre project on horror, I ended up being most familiar with that. I particularly loved this genre, even before beginning this project so, I was quite interested in doing it for such a big project. I knew it was going to keep me intrigued while executing it. Therefore I could at least enjoy the task taking up most of my time at that moment. In my ppt, I covered many things that are included in the overall genre of horror. Such as particular types of camera angles, movements, CLAMPS, and certain elements that inherently play a part in such genre. Some common lighting in the horror genre is uplighting, silhouettes, and prominent shadows. This adds a sense of uncertainty and distortion. Which then causes the ima...

Our Pitch

Image
Our Pitch \Pitch 1:  The induction portrays a teenage girl who has been missing for 10 years, as she attempts to escape from her captor through the woods but doesn't succeed. Pitch 2:  The introduction shows society's ideal couple versus the horrific reality of a case, where the true colors of the boyfriend come out as he murders his girlfriend over an argument. Both pitches are emotionally intense and thrilling, which is exactly what will excite us during the film making process. We love psychological thrillers and horror movies so we knew we had to do something where that is being portrayed. We were really inspired to make the introduction as movie-like as possible, the last thing we want is it to look immature and childish. We came up with the first pitch first and we decided on choosing it for the final project because we certainly admired the idea. But we later found out that it might be overplayed. We wanted something as original and unpredictable as possible because we ...

Starting final task

Image
Starting Final Task Good Morning evening or afternoon Cambridge. Hello, I'm Alexa R. Delgado from Fort Lauderdale highschool. A 10th grader enrolled within AICE Media Studies class. For my final task, I won't be working alone. When it comes to group projects I like to collab with other peers. I'm collaborating with my close friend and usual partner Paola D'orazio. Me and Pao (Paola) go way back. We have worked together within this class before. We did a music video called, "Violent Crimes". Which came out very good! Overall we have been within each other's constraints and we work very well together. Our visions combine very adequately. Plus we live close to each other and have been close since before Covid. This helps because we all quarantined somewhat together. While doing this project we will make sure to remain within CDC guidelines. We will also get tested frequently. Overall I and Pao make a great team. There are a few reasons why I chose to take on ...
